Organizers of the 2010 Game Developers Conference Europe have announced today that Junction Point’s creative director, Warren Spector, will be the keynote address speaker for the conference. Spector’s keynote is entitled, “What Videogames Can Learn from Other Media...What We Can't...And What We Shouldn't.” The speech will kickoff GDC Europe, which will be happening in Cologne, Germany on August 16 – 18, 2010.

"It is always a pleasure to welcome to stage a long time friend of the GDC such as Warren Spector," said Frank Sliwka, GDC Europe Event Director. "Warren's breadth of work from Deus Ex to the highly anticipated Disney Epic Mickey demonstrates innovative game design. His talk will inspire current and new generations of European developers."

Spector will be talking about video games and how they relate to other media, such as movies, comics, and television. His speech will explore the ways the game industry can learn from those other mediums, while retaining what makes the industry unique. He will use past examples to illustrate where the industry has gone before, and where it still fears to tread.
