Digital Chocolate announced today that's it's acquired Sandlot Games, a casual developer best known for titles like Cake Mania, Super Granny, Tradewinds and Westward. The purchase enables Digital Chocolate, which has delivered more than 100 million game installs on the web, on mobile smartphones and on Facebook, to further pursue its cross-platform leadership strategy.
“Sandlot has built a great reputation in casual games,” said Trip Hawkins, Founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “We love their development teams and we can now expand further in Seattle and Eastern Europe. We expect to be the leading game company in at least 5 of the 7 cities where we now have development studios.”
“We’re excited about joining forces with Digital Chocolate to grow globally. I look forward to building successful multiplatform games together,” said Dan Bernstein, Founder and CEO of Sandlot Games. He will become Vice President of Digital Chocolate and manage the Sandlot Studios in St. Petersburg, Russia and Bothell, Washington.
Digital Chocolate also has operations in San Mateo, Helsinki, Barcelona, Bangalore, and Mexico. Terms of the Sandlot deal were not disclosed.
