The DigiPen Institute of Technology has announced that it has added a new degree program for a Master of Fine Arts in Digital Art. The school consulted with senior staff at established studios like Microsoft, Bungie, Valve, Warner Brothers and Gas Powered Games before creating the new 60 credit hour curriculum. The full program will integrate traditional art studies with the practices needed to thrive in a production environment.
"DigiPen’s MFA program will advance today’s modern sculptor in the digital age,” says Ted Warnock, senior animator at Flying Lab Software. “ I think the curriculum, from the fundamentals of traditional figure drawing and sculpture to the latest in 3D digital modeling, will produce the skills of the well-rounded, fully educated character artists we look to hire at our studio in the future."
The Master of Fine Arts in Digital Arts joins DigiPen’s current degree programs in September of 2012.
