Update: Blizzard has now issued a follow-up statement to the tweet, which had seemingly confirmed Diablo on consoles. "Bashiok’s response on Twitter was intended as a confirmation that we’re actively exploring the possibility of developing a console version of Diablo III, as we’ve mentioned in the past. This is not a confirmation that Diablo III is coming to any console platform. Our focus right now is on finishing the PC/Mac version of Diablo III and making sure it’s a worthwhile successor to the Diablo series," the statement reads.
Original story:
In a rather uncharismatic way, Blizzard has just revealed that Diablo III will indeed be getting a shot on consoles. Blizzard community manager Micah Whipple unceremoniously unveiled the big news to a Twitter follower after being prompted about the possibility. “Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project,” said Whipple in a retweet to a follower.
There have been several hints, and a lot of speculation regarding the possibility of a console version of Diablo III, but this announcement cements the deal. The game is currently in development for the HD consoles, offering much to be explored by fans of the game. No word on release date, as even the PC version has yet to get one.
