Posted June 23, 2011 by M.H. Williams

At a Develop Industry Excellence Awards ceremony on July 20 in the U.K., Ian Livingstone will be inducted in the games development hall of fame, joining previous winners including Peter Molyneux of Lionhead, David Braben of Frontier, Broken Sword creator Charles Cecil, former SCE president Phil Harrison, and Jagex’s Gower brothers.

Livingstone, co-founder of the Warhammer-IP owner Games Workshop, is currently the Life President of Square Enix subsidiary Eidos.  Livingstone has long been involved with Eidos, having previously served as major investor and Chairman for the developer.

"This award honours Ian's many achievements in gaming across an illustrious career,” said Michael French, editor-in-chief of Develop. "From establishing the U.K.'s gaming roots, to publishing some its most iconic games creations, supporting new developers, and beating the drum for a better education system or championing our innovative industry on the global stage, Ian has done it all. The U.K. games industry is indebted to him. And a special guest on the night will make the award presentation very memorable."

“I'm very fortunate to have been part of the U.K. games industry for over 35 years. To receive this coveted Award is a genuine honour. Recognition by the development community is particularly satisfying and I am very grateful. Thank you all in the Develop team,” said Livingstone.
