A Dead Rising movie, directed by the series creator Keiji Inafune is slated for release in the U.S. later this year. The movie set in modern day Japan tells the story of a teenager and his wheelchair bound brother as they try to escape from a zombie outbreak and several odd characters.
The movie hints at the popular games for which it is based as the trailer shows off chainsaws and impromptu weapons that made the game popular. Capcom believes that the movie will bring about “a new kind of first-person action film.”
Fans will be able to watch the movie as a series of downloads over the summer. This is the first live-action movie ever written and directed by Inafune. Given Inafune’s proclivity towards Japanese oriented development, the new movie coming to the U.S. represents the new role that he has in global production while focusing on the Japanese marketplace.
