Dead Rising 2 Prequel Sells 300K

Posted September 8, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The recent release of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero had many a gamer calling the end times of free demos. Though the game is officially titled as a prequel to the upcoming Dead Rising 2, many felt that the download was simply a “paid demo.”

Regardless of how critics felt, the numbers show that gamers downloaded the title at an incredible rate over the past week, racking up a total of 328,290 downloads. The game was offered at $5.

Those kinds of numbers might draw the attention of many developers as they seek to monetize in new and “exciting” ways. Recent developer discussions may in fact ring true due to the performance seen with a title such as Dead Rising 2.
