Dead Island Trailer Sparks Huge Interest

Posted February 23, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Since day one, the Internet has been abuzz with the reveal of Dead Island, in the form of a trailer that depicts a zombie apocalypse not normally seen in media. Studio Deep Silver was able to reveal the game in a big way with a haunting and emotionally charged trailer depicting a Memento style timeline of a family being attacked.

That trailer has been a major success over Youtube and Twitter, says the studio.

“We knew that we had something very unique with this trailer and we are very pleased by the positive feedback we received from the reveal of Dead Island and its trailer,” says Georg Larch, international marketing director of Deep Silver. “The trailer conveys the mood that the player will experience when his or her in-game character arrives on the island and the picturesque holiday paradise suddenly turns into hell.”

In only a few days around 3 million hits on Youtube and 3.2 million tweets have resulted from the game’s debut trailer. Even popular culture has picked up on the video, with major celebrities talking about the game.

Only a few screens and little about gameplay have really been offered at this point of time. There has yet to be a mention on specific release date, only that the game will be released sometime this year to major consoles and PC.
