Dead Island got off to a fast start, shipping one million units in its first week when Deep Silver launched the Techland developed title back in September. Now it's been revealed that the game has reached 3 million units shipped, although an exact sell-through figure still has not been provided.
"Dead Island has sold very, very well over the holiday season and we are thrilled that it has sustained a robust level of sell-through since launch in September," Aubrey Norris, Manager of Marketing & PR for Deep Silver told Game Informer.
Controversy around games can sometimes boost a title's profile, and Dead Island certainly had its share. The game's first trailer was perhaps a bit extreme, and the title's developer also had to apologize for an unlockable skill labeled "feminist whore."
