The gaming adaptation to perhaps one of the most profound works in human literary achievement might or might not be getting a game sequel, says Visceral Games. Dante’s Inferno, the latest hack-and-slash title to try and compete with God of War is not due up for a sequel at this time, but one could be in the works if the opportunity presents itself.
Visceral’s Zach Mumbach, speaking with Joystiq states, “I'm sure that if enough people are like, 'I got 60 dollars for Purgatory or Paradiso,' then we would make that game. But I don't know. I don't get to make those decisions."
At this time, the studio is working on Dead Space 2, and it seems as though EA has been relatively quiet on trying to turn the franchise towards yearly releases.
"I think they do a real good job. I've never felt like, 'We should be doing this, but EA is making us do that.' Especially since JR's [CEO John Riccitiello] came on board. JR's like 'Make good games. I need good games, give me good games.'"
Dead Space 2 is set for release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in January 2011, with a downloadable title, Dead Space Ignition, set for release tomorrow on PSN and XBLA.
