Crytek Warface Title Confirmed for US and EU Markets

Posted August 16, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Warface, the free-to-play title being developed on CryENGINE 3, will in fact be making it to the U.S. and European markets, it has been announced.  With Gamescom going on in full swing and Crytek being a German studio, the time seemed appropriate for the announcement.  Warface will be free-to-play on PC come 2012.

The big news is that the game is being developed on the actual CryENGINE 3, used on the studio’s technically renowned Crysis franchise.  Crytek hopes to instill a sense of triple-A play in a free-to-play realm, aiming to build “the next-gen of free-to-play shooters that are on par with traditional AAA games in terms of quality."

Distribution for the game in the Asian markets comes from a “strong partner in Asia,” Crytek confirmed, but they are still working on specifics for the game at launch.
