A job listing on Gamasutra reveals that Eidos-owned Crystal Dynamics is looking to hire a Senior Art Director. More interestingly, the job post indicates that the new employee would work "on one of the most prestigious AAA franchises in the industry."
The hiring is significant, because it hints at the developer's first major project since completing Tomb Raider: Underworld. The latest game starring Lara Croft was considered a disappointment sales-wise, despite having moved 2.6 million copies by February 2009. Crystal Dynamics let go several employees last year, both immediately after Tomb Raider: Underworld's release and in the following Summer, and more recently Eidos confirmed that another 25 employees were cut. It's good to see the developer moving forward on a major project, however.
We're inclined to believe that Crystal Dynamics is winding up for the next Tomb Raider title, but we can always hope for a new Legacy of Kain game.
