The recent posting of EA’s Q1 earnings report has revealed a profitable and welcome result for the company. The subsequent conference call to investors revealed several interesting items involving projected release dates for the publisher's upcoming games.
Chief among those is that Crytek's Crysis 2 will be pushed back to the first quarter of 2011, despite an earlier release date set for the 2010 holiday season. Crysis 2 would be the first game in EA’s lineup to demonstrate true 3D gaming. Given release timetables for other games on other consoles, it seems as though 3D gaming will not start in earnest until early 2011.
What is also of note is that Crysis 2 will join an already crowded lineup during Q1 2010. The game will be joining Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm, Darkspore, Fight Night Champion, and the newly confirmed Need for Speed: Shift 2.
The newest Need for Speed game has also been projected for a release by March 2011. This comes just months after the release of the upcoming Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, in development by Criterion Games due out for release on November 16.

I was looking forward to Crysis 2 but I'm glad it got pushed back. I'm going to be pretty busy with Halo Reach, Fear 3 and Star Wars:TFU2 this holiday season.
