Crackdown Developer Unveils Project: MyWorld

Posted July 29, 2010 by Ben Strauss

Realtime Worlds, the developers behind the recently released APB and Crackdown, are setting their sites on a new social experiment that will recreate the entire world into a full-on game space. The project, dubbed Project: MyWorld, will combine 3D gaming with social media to create a new type of experience.

Project: MyWorld turns the real world into a fun 3D social gaming experience," the site explains. "Project: MyWorld is a virtual recreation of the real world combined with 3D gaming and social media."

The game will allow players to purchase and own property within the game, build new structures and interact with others in a game space that will purportedly recreate the world. Other features will allow users to integrate with social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, adding even more interactive options.

The trailer showcases various gameplay elements, such as racing, flying and fishing, but little has been revealed about exactly what players will be able to do within the game space. Project: MyWorld plans to launch “early next year,” with a closed beta taking place sometime in the near future.
