Ruffian Games is certainly having a good holiday season, now that news of a “number of as of yet unannounced projects with some of the biggest publishers in the games industry” is public. The studio responsible for Crackdown 2 is currently looking for a new environmental artist to fill the ranks in time for a new “AAA game for current generation consoles.”
The news, posted via Twitter, mentioned that the studio is working with a major publisher, which certainly does not leave Microsoft out of the picture. Ruffian worked with Microsoft directly back in 2010 to deliver Crackdown 2; Microsoft took control of the rights to the IP after Realtime Worlds shut down.
Crackdown 2 is currently the only title that has been released under the studio, though several employees have had considerable portfolio help thanks to working on Grand Theft Auto, Fable and the original Crackdown. As for the publisher, it could be any number of them, but EA, Activision and Ubisoft should be considered prime suspects.
The upcoming triple-A titles coming from the studio are as of yet unannounced, with no indication on a possible reveal date offered thus far.
