Company of Heroes Will Be Free In the U.S.

Posted June 2, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Relic Entertainment’s Company of Heroes is going through a change for its fourth anniversary. Most notably, the title will soon be available for free in North America. This comes as part of the launch of Company of Heroes Online, a free-to-play online version of the game, which will include the entire single player game as well as an online persistent multiplayer mode.

Similar versions of the title are already available in China and South Korea, home of the RTS as an e-sport.

"In the past, our multiplayer experience was a quick game session that was over as soon as the match was over," said Relic Senior Producer Tim Holman. "With this game, you get an extended experience over time."

The title will not have a subscription fee for online play, instead going with a micro-transtraction model like most free-to-play MMOs.

I may be one of those few that dislike this idea.I actually paid money for the games.Getting superb games for free is awesome probably while piracy is getting more popular.
