Closure, from Eyebrow Interactive, has taken home the Grand Prize from the Indie Game Challenge, scoring a cool $100K. The team behind the game beat out other winners The Bridge, Nitronic Rush and Symphony at the DICE Summit from this past week in Las Vegas.
The game takes on an interesting perspective of light and shadow, utilizing a black and white color scheme to present challenges to the player. Gamers were able to erase various objects within the game to proceed through the various stages. The three-man team at Eyebrow Interactive will now have the chance to pitch their title to various publishers for a shot at full support on a distribution deal.
Other games like Symphony, Nitronic Rush and The Bridge also won awards and various cash prizes. The music-based shooter Symphony took home the Technical Achievement Award as well as $2,500. The Bridge won two awards in Art Direction and Achievement in Gameplay, scoring a cool $5,000. Nitronic Rush was also recognized for Gamer’s Choice Award from an online public poll, giving them a $2,500 cash prize.
The top ten finalists and winners will all be getting a chance at a distribution deal. Other big awards include a promotional deal from GameStop, which was awarded to Symphony. The game will be getting an online advertising opportunity on Impulse valued at $50,000.
Scholarships were also up for grabs, with all finalists earning a shot at a $50,000 scholarship to The Guildhall at SMU.
