The Chinese company Virtuos announced today that it now has over 500 employees. These developers, working at the company's Shanghai and Chengdu offices, are helping to create the first next generation title from an independent Chinese company.
“Virtuos is proud to reach this important milestone,” said Virtuos CEO Gilles Langourieux. “Driven by a very strong base of local talent, China will continue to evolve into a central player in game development and digital content outsourcing in the next decade.”
Virtuos has grown steadily over the past two years, increasing from 300 employees in 2008 to 400 employees in 2009 and now 500 in 2010. The unannounced title they are working on for PS3, PSP, DS, Wii and Xbox 360 “will be the latest installment of a series from one of the world’s leading publishers.”
“Steady expansion continues to enhance our ability to deliver on the natural competitive advantage of production in China,” said Langourieux. “We have been fortunate over the years to have the benefit of excellent talent attracting great projects, and great projects attracting more excellent talent.”
The company's outsourcing services also include online game production, CG-movie assets and concept art. To find out more, please visit www.virtuosgames.com.
