Child's Play Charity Raises $2 Million in 2010, Breaks Record

Posted January 3, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The Penny Arcade foundation, Child’s Play, has had a phenomenal year as contributions surpassed $2 million for the first time. 2010 came out to $2,294,317 in raised funds for the gamer-oriented charity.

The Penny Arcade creators are incredibly pleased with the new benchmark and commented on the result for the end of the year. "I could not be happier with the record shattering results of our incredible Charity," said Mike Krahulik, Storm Wizard.

"I hardly know how to respond to it,” exclaimed Jerry Holkins.  “The world may be a better place than I previously thought."

"Jerry's comment is better," added Krahulik.

The events this year helped to really bring attention to the fund, with over $300,000 gained from the Humble Indie Bundle offered earlier this year. Epic Studios also contributed a total of $150,000 thanks to “The Fate of Carmine” campaign.

“Just because we’ve surpassed our goal this year doesn’t mean we’re going to slow down, in fact we are planning to expand so we can help even more children next year,” explains Kristin Lindsay, Foundation Coordinator, Child's Play.

Child’s Play is dedicated to bringing gifts to kids during the holiday season, and the charity works year-round to help sick children across the globe.
