Child's Play Charity Close to $2 Million Goal

Posted December 16, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The Child’s Play Gala and Auction has once again come and gone, and this year’s proceeds have hit a staggering $351,000, it has been announced.  The Sixth Annual Gala and Auction was able to take in that amount thanks to a myriad of amazing prizes and generous donations from around the gaming industry.

This year’s goal of $2 million is almost a reality, with the total earnings of the Charity hitting $1.95 million.  While this year is still a quarter of a million away from last year’s take, the fundraiser has made remarkable strides in providing for sick children around the US.

Some of the very cool bid items made a big impact, with a replica Half-Life gravity gun bringing in $21,000.  A guest appearance in the Penny Arcade comic ran a total of $10,000, while a very rare copy of Nintendo World Championships Gray #60 took in a staggering $11,500.

To help Penny Arcade and Child’s Play hit that $2 million mark, everyone is encouraged to text “GAMERS” to 50555 for a $5 donation.
