New data released today by the UK National Gamers Survey Report says that 2.4 million Britons spend 280 million British pounds ($438 million) a year on online game portals. In Germany, the total is roughly 440 British pounds ($688 million) and in France it is 220 million British pounds ($344 million).
“The range of business models in the online casual gaming business is staggering. With the rise of social networks as gaming destination things are getting even more exciting,” said Rik Haandrikman, Head of business development at international online gaming company GamePoint. “We recently launched our games in Facebook and created an entire international multiplayer platform with tens of thousands of players and a working virtual economy in just a matter of weeks instead of the years it took to build our first game community.”
13.3 million Britons play on game portals, but 82 percent do not pay to play. Social networks are increasing their reach, with 11 percent of British online casual gamers stating a social network is their primary gaming destination, and the number increases to 24 percent in the U.S.

Facebook is at the centre of the social gaming Universe. I'm sure all content providers would enjoy higher ARPU on the network but with time, and focused content, expect to see a higher conversion of the 82% as paying consumers.
