The fine folks at independent developer The Behemoth officially proclaimed on their development blog today that Castle Crashers has reached 1 million players on Xbox Live.
“Today is an awesome day! Less than 10 months after the game’s release I have witnessed 1,000,000 of my friends on the Castle Crashers leaderboards! This is really big news! Thanks to you guys Castle Crashers has become the fastest growing XBLA game in history! And saved marriages. AMAZING! I am amazed,” Behemoth's Dan Paladin exclaimed.
The Behemoth, which is known for quirky side-scrollers like Alien Hominid (which started as a Flash game before moving to consoles), released Castle Crashers last August, and the title quickly became the most downloaded title on Xbox Live Arcade last year. The developer is currently working on another as yet unannounced project for release next year.
While budgets have skyrocketed this generation, IndustryGamers is definitely encouraged by the opportunities afforded the little guys, who can succeed with digital platforms like Xbox Live, PSN and WiiWare and without the need for massive budgets.
