Capcom has released its financial earnings report for the nine-month fiscal period ended on December 31, 2011.  Total sales came to ¥50.3 billion ($660 million), a 29 percent decline from ¥70.7 billion ($929 million) for the nine-month period ended on December 31, 2010.  Net income came to ¥3.24 billion ($42.6 million), a 52 percent decline year-over-year.

Capcom’s bottom-line in its consumer games division was supported mainly by new installments in its franchises.  Monster Hunter Tri G for 3DS sold over one million copies during the period, reaching Capcom’s sales projection.  Monster Hunter Frontier Online for PC and Xbox 360 also showed steady growth, while titles like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (600,000 units) and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (500,000 units) performed well in Western markets.

Japan remains Capcom’s strongest market with 5 million units sold.  North America, Europe, and Asia followed with 2.5 million, 1.7 million, and 200,000 units, respectively. Sales for the department came to ¥31.7 billion ($416.5 million), down 41.3 percent year-over-year, with an operating income of ¥5.9 billion ($77.5 million).

Smurfs’ Village continues to lead the mobile division, with Capcom’s Beeline brand having “domestic and overseas downloads totaling more than 46 million.”  Snoopy’s Street Fair has done well in Asia, while Resident Evil: Outbreak Survive and Monhan Tankenki Maboroshi no Shima for GREE have gotten a “good start” so far.  Net sales were up 68 percent to ¥4 billion ($52.6 million), with an operating income of ¥1.37 billion ($17.9 million), marking a 189 percent rise for the department.

For the fourth quarter, Capcom is launching more franchise titles, including Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Street Fighter X Tekken, with unit sales projections being 2 million for each title.

The company overall is forecasting full-year net sales of ¥86 billion ($1.13 billion), an 88 percent rise over fiscal year 2011, with a net income of ¥7 billion ($91.9 milion).
