Call of Duty: MW3 - Could The 'Definitive' Version Land on Project Cafe?

Posted May 24, 2011 by James Brightman

Wii hasn't exactly been a haven for hardcore gaming, but the Call of Duty series has managed to perform well on the underpowered console regardless. Activision today confirmed the ship date for Modern Warfare 3 (November 8), but will one of the biggest game launches of 2011 be skipping Wii?

Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling commented, "The confirmed platforms available for current pre-order is Xbox 360, PS3, and PC." He didn't deny a Wii version, but it certainly doesn't appear to be a focus for this year's launch if it's coming at all.

Of course, one scenario would could envision is if Project Cafe launches in early to mid 2012, Activision and Infinity Ward could bring the "definitive version" to Nintendo's new, more powerful console and it could come with extras not included with the holiday release on PS3 and 360.

If this were to happen, it could also be a very encouraging sign that Nintendo is finally serious about stepping up its online game, which the company has admitted has been quite weak in the past on Wii.
