Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Interest Unlike Anything in Activision History, says Kotick

Posted August 4, 2011 by James Brightman

Call of Duty continues to see huge interest from gamers, and it doesn't appear to be slowing down. Not only did Activision Blizzard boss Bobby Kotick happily announce that Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders were already "significantly" ahead of Black Ops at the same time last year, but in a new interview, he added that the interest in the newest Call of Duty is unprecedented for the company.

"It's sort of surprising because you always go into the launch of a new Call of Duty game with an expectation that ... it's a hard number to beat, but if you look at the player enthusiasm for Modern Warfare 3, I don't know if we've really seen anything like it in our 21-year history," he enthused to Reuters.

Black Ops has already set the sales bar incredibly high, recently reaching 25 million units, and we'll all be watching this holiday's performance of MW3 very closely.
