The Entertainment Merchants Association's (EMA) GamePlan Summit, "a trade-only event focused on strategic planning for the business of delivering video games and related products to consumers," concluded with an awards ceremony last week to recognize contributions from retailers and publishers. The big winner at the event was Activision, which took home the most awards.
The publisher won for “Best Packaging,” “Best Marketing Campaign,” and “Best Use of Social Networks” for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. On the retail side, GameStop garnered two awards for “Best Game Department” and “Best Retail Promotion and Marketing.”
“We are delighted to celebrate and honor those who contribute to the success of the video game industry through outstanding marketing, promotions, and retailing,” stated Bo Andersen, EMA President and CEO. “Even the most compelling games need the support of great packaging, advertising, marketing, and execution at retail.”
The winners were determined by a vote of EMA’s Game Retailing Council and EMA member retailers, vendors, publishers. For more on GamePlan Summit and the full list of awards, check out the official site.
