Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Becomes Best Selling Game of All Time in U.K.

A couple weeks ago, we reported that the Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was on track to top the charts as the best selling game of all time in the U.K. Well, now in just 41 weeks (around 10 months), the blockbuster shooter from Activision Blizzard has managed that feat, GfK Chart-Track has noted.

It took the previous number one, Dr Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo DS), around 36 months to overtake the previous record holder, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2, Xbox and PC). Chart-Track also said that Modern Warfare 2 spent only 3 weeks outside the Entertainment Software Top 10.

Modern Warfare 2 has sold over 20 million units worldwide and continues to boost Activision's bottom line with sales of map pack downloads.

As for other U.K. game sales news, Eidos' Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (360, PS3, PC) has debuted at number one, while Disney's Toy Story 3 stays hot at number two.
