Call of Duty Developer Calls for Metascore Boost

Posted November 14, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The battle between higher Metascore and developer nerves has hit a head once again, this time involving Sledgehammer Games lead Glen Schofield.  While critic reviews of Modern Warfare 3 have been rather positive, garnering a lofty 89 for the Xbox 360, user reviews of the game have simply been bombed to a staggeringly low 3.2.

Such a score obviously has the developer perturbed, eliciting a twitter outburst asking for fans of the game to counteract the myriad of 0/10 scores.

"I don’t usually do this but, if u like MW3 go 2 Metacritic.com & help our user score," tweeted Schofield in the now erased message. "It’s suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree."

Schofield was immediately attacked by fans of the game, accusing him of trying to promote ‘unfair boosting.’  At the time of his posting, the game was at an unbelievable 1.7/10, and has since started to improve over the past few days.
