Call of Duty: Black Ops Becomes Top Selling Game in History

Posted March 10, 2011 by James Brightman

Along with the data report for February, NPD Group has revealed that Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops has now sold more than any other title in history.

NPD analyst Anita Frazier commented, "Call of Duty:  Black Ops was the best-selling game in February, retaining the top selling spot since launch in November.  It has now become the best-selling game in history, topping Wii Play."

That's quite a feat. We're trying to get an actual units number from NPD. We'll keep you posted. [Update: NPD has told IndustryGamers that Black Ops has sold 13.7 million units in the U.S.]

In just three months? I want an official confirmation because that doesn't seem very likely.

I wish you'd link to Pachter's statement that he believes that Black Ops won't really sell as good as the previous CoD games. Ah well.
