Halo and Bungie; the two words are synonymous with a franchise that has exploded around the industry as an example of what some of the best developers can accomplish for a relatively unknown platform. For just over 10 years, the studio maintained a relationship with their pet franchise. While the studio has moved on, the last tie to the game is finally being broken. Bungie has announced that they will end all services relating to Halo on their site starting March 31.
"Bungie will no longer be able to update game stats and player service records, to host new user generated content, or to operate the Bungie Pro service," said the studio in a statement on their site. "All currently supported, Bungie-developed Halo titles will be impacted by this change.
"Any replacement functionality, and all future Halo support, will be provided by Microsoft and 343 Industries via Halo Waypoint."
For those still interested, Bungie has at least confirmed that all existing historical data on the site will be maintained “for as long as the Internet and Bungie’s data storage systems remain online.”
