Bungie Aerospace Helps Indies Create Mobile & Social Titles

Posted June 30, 2011 by M.H. Williams

For a while now, Bungie’s been sitting on the name ‘Bungie Aerospace’ for some new venture.  Today, the developer has revealed that Bungie Aerospace is an initiative to help out independent developers that wish to create mobile and social titles.  These smaller studios will get access to resources, including the Bungie.net platform and Bungie’s huge community, to help their titles find a solid footing in the market.

Bungie Aerospace’s first partner is Harebrained Schemes, a studio run by Jordan Weisman, the founder of FASA (Battletech and Shadowrun), FASA Interactive (MechWarrior) and Wizkids (Mage Knight and Heroclix).  The studio's first title, Crimson, is being developed for iOS and Android platforms.

“Bungie has always been passionate about making and playing great games, regardless of platform,” said Pete Parsons, Bungie COO. “Bungie Aerospace will allow us to explore game creation in multiple formats with some amazingly talented teams. Now that we’ve returned to our roots as an independent studio, we are in a position to launch Bungie Aerospace to support, foster, and elevate like-minded, independent developers.”
