The layoff bug has struck again, this time affecting Blue Fang Games. The Massachusetts-based developer made the "difficult but necessary" move to lay off 15 workers, a quarter of their 45 full-time employees.
"While we are saddened beyond words that we cannot continue to employ these talented individuals, we are also confident and excited about our studio’s future," said Blue Fang president Hank Howie in a statement initially spotted by Gamasutra. "We wish all of the folks who are leaving us every future success."
A proprietary technology that the company has developed allows for smoother multi-platform development. "While this provides a tremendous benefit to our overall business, it unavoidably means we needed to adjust both the size and mix of our development team going forward," Howie continues. "With today’s staff reductions, we have made these necessary team adjustments."
Blue Fang Games, probably best known for their Zoo Tycoon series, is currently working on World of Zoo for the PC, DS and Wii.
