Back in December 2010, Blizzard’s publishing schedule until 2015 was leaked onto the internet. This schedule included Blizzard’s next-gen MMO, Project Titan, and titles in the World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, and Diablo III product lines. Oddly enough, it seems that Blizzard may have another game in development.
On the Blizzard job board, available jobs are separated by section and by title. World of Warcraft, Diablo III, and Starcraft II all have sections, while available positions on Project Titan are under the “Next-Gen MMO” section. There is now a new section with a single job listed: a software engineer for tools to work on an “Unannounced Game Title”.
“Blizzard Entertainment is on the hunt for a creatively minded and talented individual to serve as tools engineer for its newest game team. This person will help build and maintain the development tools and content management system to provide a foundation for the game's asset pipelines. This is a key role on a new and exciting project within the company,” says the posting.
What could Blizzard be hiding? Whatever it is, we probably won’t see it for awhile. Starcraft II was announced in 2007, but development began in 2003 and the game did not release until last year. Diablo III was shown in 2008, and the leaked schedule shows a tentative release date of late 2011, but the game has reportedly been in development in various iterations since 2001.
Maybe Starcraft: Ghost is back on the table?
