Google has released its annual report on the most searched terms for the year, and the top ten gaming terms searched reveal a definite bias in favor of Activision. The top search honors went to Black Ops, followed closely by Call of Duty. Modern Warfare didn't even make the list, but Battlefield 3 did appear at #7, so Electronic Arts can take some consolation in that. Halo Reach took a surprising third place in the search list, followed by Super Mario and dark horse Mortal Kombat.
Google also released a list of the top online game searches, with WoW (World of Warcraft) taking the title as most-searched online game, which means that Activision Blizzard is tops in both videogame and online game searches. Generic terms came in second and third (“addicting games” and “free online games”). Interestingly, the majority of the online game searches were generic terms rather than game titles, while all of the videogame searches were game titles.
