The BioShock movie has been facing budget constraints, and Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski switched from director to producer, but that hopefully won't stop the film adaptation of Ken Levine's video game masterpiece from moving forward. Levine said in a recent radio interview that the movie is still very much in the discussion.
"I will say that it is still an active thing," he said. "And it is something we are actively talking about and actively working on. I can't tell you whether — you know, the movie business is complicated — I can't tell you whether it's going to happen for sure or it's not going to happen for sure. But it's something we are actively discussing, quite actively, and actively working on."
Levine also talked about the "super, super challenge" of honoring the game's source material while making it work well as a film. If the film does see the light of day, it will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto, 28 Weeks Later).
