BioShock 2 Prepares for Rapture on February 9

Posted September 18, 2009 by James Brightman

A couple months ago, Take-Two announced that it was pushing BioShock 2 into the first half of 2010. Chairman Strauss Zelnick said at the time that the delay would yield "a more compelling consumer experience and a better performing product in the marketplace." Today, the publisher finally unveiled a new release date for the much anticipated sequel. BioShock 2 will launch globally for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC (Games for Windows - Live) on February 9.

BioShock 2 is in development at 2K Marin in collaboration with 2K Australia, Digital Extremes and 2K China. Ken Levine and 2K Boston meanwhile are working on something "substantially more ambitious" than BioShock

You can bet we'll be playing this on Feb 9!

BioShock 2 will offer gamers a look at the underwater world of Rapture 10 years after the events of the first game. A monster has been snatching little girls from the coastline and bringing them back to Rapture. Players take control of a Big Daddy to search for answers. Take-Two boasts that the game "will deliver two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action."
