When Bethesda Softworks parent company ZeniMax Media acquired id Software earlier this year, it seemed likely that all announced software going forward for id would be published by ZeniMax; turns out that ZeniMax isn’t biding their time, revealing today that they have acquired the rights to id Software’s Rage.
“Rage will be published by Bethesda Softworks, another ZeniMax subsidiary,” read the statement by ZeniMax. “As a result, Electronic Arts will not be involved in the sales and marketing of Rage. The ongoing development of Rage is unaffected by this development.”
While id Software has long-standing positive relationships with publishers like Activision and EA, having ZeniMax’s publishing and distribution capablities means that the company will be able to keep more revenues from its titles in-house.

I don't spend any time in it. It's obvious, though, that it is appealing to some people out there, or else the number of users would not be climbing at a precipitous rate.
