Report: Best Buy Offering Games, Price Match to Prevent Old PS3 Trade-Ins

Posted August 26, 2009 by David Radd

Demand for the new PS3 Slim might make certain recent PS3 consumers scrambling to upgrade to the latest model. Aware of this surge in demand, Best Buy has an alternative for consumers bringing in their older model PS3s.

According to information uncovered by Kotaku, Best Buy managers are authorized to offer one of three games (Killzone 2, MLB '09 The Show and InFamous) and a price match to any customer bringing in a recently purchased PS3. This offer is not being advertised, though it should be available to all consumers who have purchased a PS3 in the last 30 days (and have a receipt).

You figure anyone tech savvy enough to hear about this was also smart enough not to buy a PS3 30 days before the new PS3 and price cut were announced. I think this is coming from Sony passed down to Best Buy due to the titles offered (All 1st party Sony Games). Throws Best Buy corporate a huge bone because they have to deal with the uninformed customers who were sold a PS3 by BB employees they day before the annoucement.

Yay! Sony is finally getting their act together
