Best Buy Confirms New Trade-In Program

Posted August 26, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Hot on the heels of Target’s trade-in program announcement, Best Buy announced today that they’re launching their own service at 600 stores this week. All trade-ins will receive a Best Buy gift card for the value of the game, good for use on all purchases in Best Buy or on BestBuy.com. As a celebratory bonus, consumers who trade-in specific popular games at an eligible store this Sunday, August 29 will get an extra $20 Best Buy gift card in addition to the value of the game. [Update/Clarification:  We've been told that Best Buy's announcement had an error and the offer is for just a $20 gift card for select titles (not over and above the trade-in value).]

“The expansion of our trade-in program reaffirms our commitment to consistently pursue new ways to bring a better gaming experience to consumers,” said Chris Homeister, senior VP of Best Buy’s Home Entertainment Group. “Fall marks the launch of several highly-anticipated gaming titles and new technology, and we’re thrilled to provide gamers with innovative ways to connect with the games they love.”

To trade-in used titles customers can head to the Customer Service Desk within an eligible Best Buy, or at select store, the dedicated trade-in desk in the gaming section. Consumers can check the value of their games by heading online to BestBuy.com. From there you can either head in-store or you can mail your games in and receive a Best Buy gift card 7-14 days later.
