Now is about the time of year that games, like Singularity and BioShock 2, start getting pushed back into the next year. A similar fate has now befallen Bayonetta, which will now release in Europe and the U.S. in January 2010. While originally scheduled for a worldwide release in Fall 2009, only Japan will receive the stylish action game from Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry) this year on October 29.
“Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for Sega and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio," said Mike Hayes, President and COO for Sega West. "As a result of market analysis we have taken a publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the Western Markets to maximize this exciting new title's potential."
Don't punish us Bayonetta! We promise to be good!
It sounds like Hayes is saying in so many words that he'd rather let Bayonetta give the busy holiday period a miss, releasing instead early next year in a less crowded market. It pains IndustryGamers to think that we'll be without Bayonetta for a little bit longer, but we think the game is pretty special too and deserves the time to shine at retail.

Smart decision, especially considering all the other big guns coming out this year during the holiday season.
