Battlefield 3 Pre-Orders Hit 3 Million At U.S. Launch

Posted October 25, 2011 by M.H. Williams

Electronic Arts has revealed that its latest volley against Activision’s Call of Duty franchise has hit 3 million in pre-orders as it launches in North America.  DICE’s Battlefield 3 had 1.5 million in pre-orders last month, so 1.5 million players signed up in the last 30 days.  9.5 million players downloaded the beta in September.

The game is launching with a Metacritic rating of 93 on PC and 85 on Xbox 360, though there has been some contention with reviews scores as the single-player campaign has been almost universally panned.

Will it be enough to take the crown from Call of Duty?  Who’s already jumped into EA DICE’s new shooter?
