Apple has recently made headlines for deciding to sue Samsung, one of the main providers of parts for iOS hardware, for infringing on Apple intellectual property with its Galaxy line of products. A legal document filed in the suit finally gives the world a concrete number for Apple’s immense entertainment ecosystem.
Apple asserts that it has spent $2 billion over the course of three years to establish a specific look for Apple products, and that marketing has led to over 187 million iOS devices being sold to consumers.
The breakdown sits at 19 million iPads, 60 million iPod Touch units, and 108 million iPhones. In comparison, the Nintendo DS has sold 144.6 million units across all models, while the Sony PSP had sold 62 million units worldwide at last count.
