It looks like virtual cops and robbers has been put on hold indefinitely. It’s been announced on the APB official website that the title has been shelved. This comes as somewhat of a shock as just last month joint administrator Paul Dounis said that the title would still be supported moving forward. In a statement, Dounis said, “APB will not only continue as an online service but will be improved and supported 100 percent during this restructure.”
Sadly, it was not meant to be.
“APB has been a fantastic journey, but unfortunately that journey has come to a premature end. Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone's best efforts to keep the service running; APB is coming to a close. It's been a pleasure working on APB and with all its players. Together we were building an absolutely amazing game, and for that, we thank you. You guys are awesome,” said Community Officer Ben Bateman in a post on the official website. “From all of the Realtime World staff we thank you for your continued support. The servers are still up, so join the party and say goodbye!”
Merely two and a half months after launch, the game is dead. This may in fact be the quickest launch and shutdown of an MMO ever.
