Aion Raises NCsoft's Profits on Angel's Wings

Posted November 9, 2009 by David Radd

NCsoft today reported that their profit increased over 836 percent to 46.9 billion won ($40.6 million). This came from a significant increase in sales, doubling over last year to 166 billion won ($143 million).

Aion's launch in North America and Europe helped drive the Korean publisher's impressive results, with sales of nearly a million units (both regions combined) since its launch in September. Aion comprised over half of the company's sales, with Lineage II contributing about a quarter of the company's sales. Despite the importance of Aion's launch in the West, American and European sales comprised only a quarter of NCsoft's revenue, with Korea still responsible for nearly half of the company's sales.

We were skeptical of Aion's chances in the West, but we're happy to see it doing so well, at least in the short term.
