Activision's Mike Griffith Resigns

Posted April 28, 2010 by James Brightman

In the wake of a massive lawsuit against Activision from 38 Infinity Ward employees, it's been revealed that Activision Publishing CEO and President Mike Griffith has tendered his resignation. SEC documents show that this comes about two months before his contract was to expire on June 30.

Even though he's resigning, Griffith will keep his board position as vice chairman on a 12-month renewable contract. That means he'll still be entitled to a salary of $250,000 a year, along with stock options and potential bonuses.

An exact reason for Griffith's resignation was not provided. As the head of Activision Publishing, he did oversee the once mighty Infinity Ward, but it's not clear if the increasingly ugly situation at the Modern Warfare developer has anything to do with his deciding to step down.
