Activision Sacks Shaba

Posted October 8, 2009 by David Radd

7 Studios saw significant cut backs yesterday, but they weren't the last internal Activision studio to suffer layoffs. Kotaku is reporting that Shaba Games has been closed entirely, with its 30 employees all laid off.

While probably best known for their most recent title Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Shaba spent most of its existence working on ports of various Activision titles, including Tony Hawk's Project 8, Shrek Super Slam and Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX. Causes for the closure likely include the lukewarm reception to Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and the more recent underperformance of Guitar Hero 5.
