Activision Reportedly Tapping Third Studio to Work on Call of Duty

Posted November 18, 2009 by David Radd

Activision has done well by its plan to have two studios, namely Treyarch and Infinity Ward, paired up on the Call of Duty franchise, each making a biannual release. Despite the success the publisher's had with this strategy, the LA Times is reporting that Activision has decided to add another studio to its Call of Duty bullpen.

Making Call of Duty releases semi-annual is certainly a possibility, as is taking a more active roll in making entries for portable platforms like the DS and iPhone. The possibility of making an MMO entry for Call of Duty is also being looked into.

One can understand the temptation to milk Call of Duty for all its worth, but Activision would do well to remember that no franchise is immune to fatigue.
