Activision Files Call of Duty Movie Trademark

Posted October 5, 2009 by David Radd

The Call of Duty series already shares many elements in common with blockbuster movies, as anyone who watched the recent two-minute trailer can attest. Trademork [thanks Destructoid] is reporting that Activision is seriously considering bringing one of the largest gaming properties in the world to the big screen.

Late in September, Activision filed to protect the Call of Duty trademark for “pre-recorded movies featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure, music, theatrical performances and/or animation." This supports a report in May 2009 that said that there were active talks to bring Call of Duty to the big screen.

While we think that Call of Duty could made a good enough movie, it'd be hard for them to recreate the interactive cinematic moments that really have helped make the series not just fun but also dramatic and poignant.
