Activision Declares Modern Warfare on Wii

Posted August 5, 2009 by James Brightman

Activision Blizzard today confirmed that they will be bringing their hit title Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to the Wii. The game, to be ported to the Wii by Treyarch, will lose the "4" and will simply be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It's slated to arrive on November 10, the same time that Activision ships its much anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for other platforms.

Late last year Treyarch also brought Call of Duty: World at War to the Wii and the game sold 366,000 copies in December, making it one of the few Mature-rated titles on Wii to put up halfway respectable sales.

Activision also recently confirmed Modern Warfare for a DS release this November. That game will be handled by n-Space. We'll be very curious to see how both the DS and Wii versions perform this holiday.

Better late than never I suppose.

I, for one, can't wait to play CoD4 with point-and-shoot controls (online multiplayer). World at War is fun, but the guns and maps just aren't as good.
