A study by Interpret found that 28 percent of 3DS owners said the 3D technology detracts from the gameplay experience. That's more than the 22 percent who thought the 3D added to gameplay.
Interpret senior VP Dan Casey indicated that 13 percent of 3DS owners preferred to play with the 3D effect off altogether. The survey, taken in May, showed that the general public may not have been well educated about the system - 60 percent of the 1,600 adult respondents were aware of the 3DS' existence, but only 28 percent knew that it didn't require glasses to view the 3D effect.
Additionally only 7 percent thought the 3DS provided what they'd consider an ideal 3D gaming experience. 56 percent said a 3D-capable console and TV would be ideal; 23 percent of survey respondents said they were interested in 3D gaming to get an edge in multiplayer games.
A full 37 percent reported problems with dizziness and nausea from 3D effects, up from 30 percent last year.
